Public Administration

Explore APU Global's online public service degrees: a BA in Criminal Justice and an MPA that prepare leaders in government and law.

Overview

Public administration is the work of making government and nonprofit institutions function for the people who depend on them. APU Global's online public service programs prepare working adults for that responsibility with training in criminal justice practice, public budgeting, policy analysis, and ethical leadership, all delivered in eight-week online terms.

Both pathways are built for adults already serving in agencies, departments, and nonprofits: eight-week courses, six start dates a year, and coursework you can apply to the cases on your desk this week.

What to know

What to expect from a degree in public administration at APU Global

What you will study

Undergraduate coursework covers the justice system end to end, from constitutional constraints to community policing. The MPA focuses on public budgeting and finance, human resource administration, policy analysis and program evaluation, and public sector ethics. Both are taught by faculty with agency and field experience.

Careers our graduates pursue

Graduates serve as officers, investigators, probation and corrections professionals, analysts, city and county administrators, emergency management staff, and nonprofit program directors. The MPA is the standard credential for advancement into public agency management.

Fieldwork-informed, agency-ready

Public service coursework is written by faculty who have worked inside agencies, sworn officers, administrators, and nonprofit directors. Assignments use real budget documents, policy briefs, and case files rather than sanitized textbook scenarios, so graduates arrive fluent in the artifacts of the job.

Advisors evaluate prior coursework, academy training, and military service before enrollment, so you can see how much credit applies. Review transfer credit, prior learning assessment, and military benefits if you have served.
