Student profile

Who studies at APU Global

APU Global serves a student body that looks very different from a traditional residential campus. The typical student is an adult balancing employment and family responsibilities, often returning to complete a degree started years earlier, and frequently the first in their family to attend college.

  • Predominantly working adults, most enrolled while employed

  • A federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution

  • A substantial military-connected population, active duty, veterans, and spouses

  • Students across many states, studying fully online and asynchronously

  • Many transfer students entering with substantial prior credit

Enrollment

We believe the entire APU Global community is called to contribute to cultivating hope through learning and we accomplish this through our core values of being Exemplary, Caring, and focused on Learning. We are committed to preparing individuals not only with the skills and attitudes to thrive in their community and workplace, but also to point the way to something bigger, to the ultimate hope that is in Jesus Christ. This unwavering commitment is reflected in our upward growth trend as we continually work to spread the message of hope to as many students as possible.

Why we publish this data

Demographic and enrollment reporting supports accreditation, federal compliance, and, most importantly, honest self-examination. Knowing precisely who enrolls allows the university to design advising, course pacing, and financial aid around real students rather than assumed ones.

Designing around real students

Enrollment data shapes decisions. Because most APU Global students work full-time, terms are eight weeks rather than sixteen and coursework is asynchronous. Because many are transfer students, credit evaluation happens before enrollment rather than after. Because a significant share are military-connected, dedicated advisors handle benefit certification.

Serving a diverse student body also means measuring outcomes by group, not only in aggregate. Where persistence or completion gaps appear, they are treated as design problems for the institution to solve rather than as characteristics of the students. See student success data for published results.
