Legal compliance
We strive to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), Sections 504 & 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Getting started
How to request accommodations
Students in need of accommodations begin by contacting the Accessibility Office and submitting an application for accommodations. The Accessibility Office will connect with the student to determine reasonable accommodations through an interactive process. Accommodations provide necessary access without fundamentally altering any learning objectives or reducing any academic standards of a course or program.

Accessibility built into course design
Because APU Global is fully online, accessibility is largely a design question. Courses are built to consistent standards: semantic structure for screen readers, captioned video, sufficient color contrast, keyboard navigation, and mobile-accessible layouts. Designing for access from the start means fewer students need individual retrofits.

The mission of the APU Global Accessibility Office is to ensure all students have equal access to APU Global's programs, courses, educational materials, support resources, facilities, and events. The office facilitates individualized accommodations, provides training on disability awareness, and works to comply with laws including the ADA, Section 504, Section 508, Title IX, and FERPA.
Students needing academic accommodations start by contacting the Accessibility Office and submitting documentation of a disability from a qualified provider. An accessibility specialist reviews the documentation, meets with the student, and determines reasonable accommodations tailored to the student's program and courses; faculty are then notified of approved accommodations, not diagnoses.
