Description
Exploration of reading comprehension, foundational reading skills (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension), and structured literacy aligned with California’s ELA/ELD Framework and Dyslexia Guidelines for a diverse student group, and a holistic view of English language development. This course extends “literacy” to include content areas of literacy, literacy and language assessments, developing literacy in a wide variety of texts, as well as encouraging literacy outside the classroom. Additional focus is placed on understanding and developing literacy plans focused on the growth of literacy skills, including students with cognitive deficits or below-grade-level literacy skills, with a special emphasis on dyslexia.
