The recognition follows this year’s earlier naming of APU Global as #2 in the nation among Military Friendly® online institutions. ## How schools earn the designation Institutions earning the [Military](/military) Spouse Friendly® ​School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Criteria include the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans. Institutions who are recognized receive designations ranging from Designee, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, to Top 10 Gold. APU Global is now designated Top 10 in both Military Friendly and Military Spouse Friendly categories. ## Military tuition benefits for spouses In addition to military-specific student support, APU Global also extends its military tuition discount to active-duty service members, their spouses and dependents, and to veterans. “It’s our honor to provide support to our military-connected students and families who sacrifice so much to serve our nation so well,” said Frank Rojas, PhD, Executive Vice President of APU Global. As a fully online university, APU Global is designed to support working adult students, including military-connected students like the spouses of active-duty servicemembers. “Military spouses have some very specific needs that are unique to their situation; and it’s our privilege to help meet those needs,” says Dr. Blason Taon, a U.S. Army veteran serving as APU Global’s Military and Veteran Relations Manager. ## About the list The full 2021-​2022 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at ​ militaryfriendly.com ​. Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly​® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey response set and government/agency public data sources, within a logic based scoring assessment.
