### How much does an APU Global degree cost?

Published 2025–26 tuition is $535 per credit for undergraduate programs and $680 per credit for graduate programs. A full 120-credit bachelor's is $64,200 in tuition; with the maximum 90 transfer credits, the remaining 30 credits are $16,050. Master's programs at 36–48 credits run $24,480–$32,640.

### Is APU Global eligible for federal financial aid?

Yes. APU Global is regionally accredited by WSCUC and participates in Title IV federal aid programs including Pell Grants, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, and Graduate PLUS loans.

### Do you accept military and veteran benefits?

Yes. APU Global is a Yellow Ribbon school and accepts the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, MyCAA, Tuition Assistance, and VR&E. Active-duty and veteran service members and their spouses receive a 10% tuition discount.

### Can my employer pay for my degree?

Yes. We bill employers directly and offer deferred payment for tuition reimbursement programs, and we maintain employer tuition partnerships.

### Are there scholarships?

### What about hidden fees?

### How many credits can I transfer in?

Up to 90 credits toward a 120-credit bachelor's degree from institutions accredited by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, plus additional credit from AP, CLEP, DSST, military training, and Prior Learning Assessment.

### What is regional vs. national accreditation?

Regional accreditation historically evaluated traditional, degree-granting colleges and universities within specific geographic areas, while national accreditation evaluated career-focused, trade, distance-education, or vocational schools across the country.

While regional accreditation was long considered the primary standard for transfer, APU Global evaluates credit transfer based on official agency recognition rather than geographic label. APU Global accepts transfer coursework from both regionally and nationally accredited institutions, provided the nationally accrediting agency is officially recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

### Will all my credits transfer?

Most credits with a grade of C- or higher from regionally accredited institutions transfer. We also accept transfer credits from nationally accredited institutions, provided the accrediting agency is officially recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA. We evaluate coursework on a course-by-course basis to apply credits where they best fit your degree program.

### Do you accept old credits?

Yes. Generally, your credits do not expire, and coursework completed years ago can still count toward your degree. In rare cases, certain technical or specialized subjects may require more recent coursework, but we evaluate all transcripts on a course-by-course basis.

### Can I transfer credit for work experience?

Yes, through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). Document professional learning via portfolio for up to 30 credits.

### How long does evaluation take?

Your Enrollment Counselor requests an unofficial review as soon as we have your transcripts. The official evaluation requires official transcripts and is finalized at admission.

### Which colleges do you accept credit from?

We accept credits from both regionally and nationally accredited colleges and universities, provided the nationally accrediting body is officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA. Every transcript is evaluated on a course-by-course basis to apply credits where they best fit your degree program.

### Will my GPA transfer?

Transfer credits count toward your degree, but your APU Global GPA is calculated only from courses taken at APU Global.

### Does APU Global accept the GI Bill®?

Yes. APU Global is approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill®, Montgomery GI Bill®, and Survivors & Dependents Educational Assistance (Chapter 35). We also participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

### What is Yellow Ribbon and does APU Global participate?

Yellow Ribbon is a VA program that helps cover tuition costs above the Post-9/11 GI Bill® cap. APU Global participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Your enrollment counselor and school certifying official will confirm your exact benefits with the VA.

### Can my spouse use my benefits?

Yes. Eligible spouses and dependents can use transferred Post-9/11 benefits or Chapter 35 DEA. Military spouses may also qualify for MyCAA up to $4,000.

### How long does benefits processing take?

Once you submit your Certificate of Eligibility (COE), our Veterans Certifying Official typically processes your file within 5 business days. We never delay enrollment while VA payments are pending.

### Will my military training count for college credit?

Almost always. We evaluate Joint Services Transcripts (JST) and CCAF transcripts using ACE recommendations. Most service members receive 12–30 credits; some specialties earn more.

### What if I get deployed mid-semester?

Our deployment policy lets you withdraw without academic or financial penalty, freeze your benefits, and return at the next start date. Your success coach handles the paperwork.

### Are there application fees for service members?

No. APU Global has no application fee for any student, and military students receive expedited admissions review.

### Does APU Global have a Student Veterans of America chapter?

Yes. Our online SVA chapter hosts virtual meetups, mentorship pairing, and an annual Veterans Day program.

### What's a JST and how do I submit it?

The Joint Services Transcript documents your military training and experience. Request it free at jst.doded.mil and have it sent to APU Global and our registrar evaluates it for transferable credits.

### Is there a military tuition discount?

Yes. Active-duty and veteran service members and their spouses receive a 10% tuition discount.

### Can I get college credit for work experience at APU Global?

Yes, APU Global's Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) evaluates learning that happened outside the classroom and awards college credit for it. Pathways include ACE-recommended workforce training, military training on a Joint Services Transcript, credit-by-exam results like CLEP or DSST, professional licenses, and portfolio-assessed experience. Up to 30 credits can be earned this way.

### How many credits can I earn through prior learning assessment?

APU Global allows a maximum of 30 credits through Prior Learning Assessment, applied only toward undergraduate degree programs. These credits may be used to satisfy elective or General Studies requirements after you are admitted. Combined with transfer credit, PLA can shorten your time to degree by roughly a year.

### What is the process for submitting prior learning assessment documentation?

After admission, an APU Global advisor reviews your background to identify which PLA pathways apply to you. You then submit documentation such as transcripts, certificates, a Joint Services Transcript, or a portfolio, and faculty evaluate it against course learning outcomes. Approved credit is posted to your record and applied toward elective or General Studies requirements.

### Does APU Global offer online programs in every state?

No, APU Global's programs are not available in all states. APU Global is working to meet federal and state authorization requirements outside California, its home state, and is currently unable to offer distance programs or courses to residents of certain states, so availability should be confirmed directly.

### Why do universities need state authorization for online programs?

Every state regulates who may offer distance education to its residents, so universities must either be authorized in a state or participate in a reciprocity agreement before enrolling students who live there. These requirements change frequently, which is why APU Global reviews and updates availability regularly.

### What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that students and their families complete to apply for federal financial aid to help pay for college. It’s the initial step in accessing [federal grants](https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/grants) and loans. Completing the FAFSA is free and can lead to various types of financial aid, some of which are grants that don’t need to be repaid.

### What is the federal school code for APU Global?

The APU Global federal school code is 042788 .

### Why have I been selected for verification?

Verification is the process used to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA is accurate. Some FAFSA applications are selected because of inconsistent information, and others are chosen randomly.

### Why was I selected for unusual enrollment history (UEH)?

UEH is a flag used by the U.S. Department of Education to identify students who have received federal student aid (like Pell Grants or direct loans) from multiple institutions within the past four academic years. This flag is intended to help prevent fraud and abuse in title IV student aid programs.

### Will I qualify for federal financial aid through the FAFSA?

To qualify for financial aid through the FAFSA, you must meet the following criteria: Be enrolled as a student in an eligible degree or certificate program of study. Be a U.S. citizen or Eligible Non-Citizen. Must have a valid Social Security Number (SSN). Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Must not be in default on Federal Student Loans or owe money on a Federal Grant.

### What is satisfactory academic progress (SAP)?

SAP refers to the requirement that students receiving financial aid maintain satisfactory academic performance to remain eligible for those funds. This means successfully completing coursework and progressing toward a degree or certificate within a reasonable timeframe.

### What is return to Title IV (R2T4)?

R2T4 refers to the federal requirement that institutions calculate and return unearned Title IV funds to the U.S. Department of Education when a student withdraws from school before completing 60% of the payment period.

### How will dropping or withdrawing from one or more classes affect my financial aid eligibility?

Dropping or withdrawing from classes can affect financial aid eligibility by potentially requiring a return of funds and impacting future aid awards. If you drop below half-time enrollment, you may have to repay a portion of your aid and could lose eligibility for future grants or scholarships. If you are considering dropping or withdrawing from one or more classes, you are strongly encouraged to contact your Success Coach regarding academic impact or Student Financial Services regarding potential financial impact. Unfortunately, we may not be able to tell you exactly what the financial impact will be if you withdraw because we have to wait for our financial aid office run the R2T4 calculation to determine what portion of aid you have earned and what portion will need to be returned.

### What type of Title IV financial aid can I get through the FAFSA?

Title IV funds are federal student aid funds, which are from federal student aid programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Title IV funds include Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan, Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, Direct Parent PLUS Loan, Federal Pell Grant, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). The FAFSA is also used to administer the California state grants.

### How much in federal direct loans will I be offered?

APU Global awards students based upon the grade level, Student Aid Index (SAI) from the FAFSA and Cost Of Attendance (COA). See the APU Global Catalog for more details for the COA. You can also use the Net Price Calculator to give you an early indication of how much and what types of financial aid you might qualify for.

### How does my income affect my financial aid offer?

The FAFSA uses your income (and your family’s, if applicable) to calculate your Student Aid Index (SAI), which is a measure of how much your family is expected to contribute toward your education.

### I completed a FAFSA before and got student loans. do I have to submit it again?

Yes. You must complete a new FAFSA for every academic year that you wish to receive loans. The FAFSA form must be completed each year, as soon as October 1, for the academic year you plan to attend and apply for student aid. If you completed a FAFSA for the current academic year for another school, and you are transferring to APU Global, you will need to go back to the FAFSA website and add APU Global to your existing FAFSA.

### How do I get started on the federal student loan process?

To begin the federal student loan process, first complete and submit the FAFSA. This application determines your eligibility for federal student loans, grants, and other forms of financial aid. After submitting the FAFSA, APU Global will send you a financial aid offer, which may include federal student loans. In the financial aid offer, there will be instructions how to complete the Loan Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note.

### How do I accept or decline my award?

APU Global has a “passive acceptance” policy in regards to the Federal Direct Loans. That means we assume you are accepting the full amount of your offer unless you tell us otherwise. If you would like to decline all or a portion of your offer, you will need to submit the Loan Adjustment Form through your student portal .

### I don’t want to borrow federal student loans for books and living expenses. can I borrow just enough to pay for tuition?

Yes. If you would like to only borrow enough to cover your tuition charges, you will need to submit the Loan Adjustment Form through your student portal . Federal Direct Loans are funds that must be repaid. We encourage all students to borrow wisely and only borrow what is needed to cover their tuition charges.

### What are federal student loan origination fees?

The origination fees are an expense for borrowing a Federal Direct Loan. It is a percentage that is subtracted from each loan disbursed by the Federal Direct Lending Program.

### Why is my awarded loan amount greater than my disbursed loan amount?

Federal Stafford loans are awarded for a gross amount and are disbursed to your student account in a net amount after the loan origination fees have been deducted.

### How can I find my outstanding loan and what lenders hold the loans?

You can access your information in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) by logging into your account on StudentAid.gov . This involves using your FSA ID (username) and password. Within your StudentAid.gov account, you can find details about your federal student loans, including amounts, outstanding balances, and loan statuses.

### How do I defer my old student loans?

If you are enrolled in an eligible program at least half-time, in most cases your loan will be placed into a deferment automatically. If you were enrolled at least half-time at your previous school but did not automatically receive a deferment, you should contact your loan servicer to notify them of your status. If they request that you fill out an in-school deferment request form, please contact the APU Global Office of the Registrar at (626) 624-4673 or registrar@apuglobal.edu for assistance.

### How do I request a book voucher?

You can request a book voucher by completing the form in the Student Services portal via my.APU Global.edu . New students can request a book voucher for the first session they attend. Continuing students can request a book voucher for the first session only. It is expected that the refund check will be received prior to the start of the second session and books will need to be purchased using the excess funds in the refund check.

### Why do I have an excess of Title IV funds on my student account?

Excess Title IV funds occur when the total amount of Title IV aid funds disbursed to your student account for the academic period exceeds THE charges for tuition for the same academic period.

### What if I have already received my refund check for the semester and then I withdraw?

If you completely withdraw from all classes and have already received your refund check, you may end up owing the university a balance after the calculation is performed. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to tell you what that exact amount is until the calculation is performed. Keep in mind if you have already received your refund check, you may have to pay back APU Global a portion of that refund check.

### What can I use my refund for?

A Title IV refund, which is excess federal financial aid, can be used for various purposes. It can be used to pay down student loans, or it can be applied to other educational expenses like tuition or the cost of purchasing a computer. Additionally, it can be used to cover future college expenses by depositing it into a savings account.

### What happens if I don't pay my tuition before graduation?

A student may not participate in graduation ceremonies, register for further sessions, or receive any diploma or certificate until all financial obligations have been satisfied. Any diploma or certificate is withheld by APU Global until obligations are met, and release of documents beforehand does not modify this policy.

### How does APU Global package financial aid?

APU Global coordinates various elements of a student's financial aid program, which may include assistance from two or more sources such as loans, grants, and scholarships. The university's goal is to award all applicants the maximum aid for which they qualify, within federal, state, and institutional guidelines.

### Whose responsibility is it to meet FAFSA deadlines at APU Global?

The final responsibility for the timely filing of the FAFSA and related documents rests with the student, even though the university will attempt to inform students about deadlines and procedures. Students must also notify Student Financial Services about changes such as marriage, job loss, class load changes, withdrawal, or address changes.

### How does the APU Global Inspire Discount referral program work?

The Inspire Discount lets a current APU Global student refer a new student and both earn a 10% tuition discount. The referring student completes the Inspire referral form, an Enrollment Counselor contacts the referral about their goals, and once the new student applies, enrolls, and completes their first two weeks of class, both parties become eligible for the discount.

### Who qualifies for the APU Global Inspire referral discount?

The discount is available to undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students at APU Global, applied to standard degree programs only. The referral must be a new applicant enrolling in a future semester; former students qualify if they must complete a new application, such as re-admission or a new degree. CBE, non-degree seeking, preparatory, and certificate students do not qualify.

### Can I combine the Inspire Discount with other APU Global discounts?

No, the Inspire Discount cannot be combined with any other discount, such as a military discount, and only one discount is given per participant regardless of additional referrals. Students must also demonstrate initial financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress, and the referral form must be submitted no later than the end of Week 1 of the referral's first session.
